Egg Whites- Ways To Consume Ambala

egg whites ways to consume

Is it always boring to consume egg whites boiled? Once on dialysis, your dietician would tell you to increase your protein levels and what better than just pure albumin that you would get from an egg white! Did you know? An egg contains 56% white, 33% yolk and the remaining 11% is the shell. Egg proteins provide all of the essential amino acids that the body requires but cannot make on its own.

Egg whites are excellent sources of high quality protein that provide few calories and zero fat. They contain essential amino acids, B vitamins, and a variety of antioxidants. Eggs are also enriched with a treasure of nutrients like iron, carotenoids, and disease fighting nutrients like lutein and zeaxanthin.

A white from one single egg (weighing approximately 50gms) will contain 5.42gms of protein. A dialysis patient can easily take 3-4 egg whites every day. However, I have come across many patients not liking the flavour of boiled egg whites and some have got bored of eating just boiled whites. So, here are some of the fun ways you could use your egg whites and get the right protein dose for the day!

– Whip up an omelette – Yes! An egg white omelette will not only taste better but you could add upto 2-3 egg whites in a go         and flavour them with some veggies and herbs.

– Scramble it – Beat the egg whites with some herbs and a dash of pepper, add in some milk, mix well and scramble it on a              pan. Soft Scrambled egg whites go well between your bread.

– Poached egg whites – Poach the egg white in hot water and enjoy it with any meal

– Egg whites whipped up in a soup – Whip up some egg white and add it to corn or vegetable soup while it is boiling with                   constant stirring. Serve hot.

– Baked delicacies – Egg whites can be used in Meringues, Souffle, Custards, Pavlova or any baked dish.
